AboutThe Client
In days past, the front porch was seen as a gathering place. It was an area where people would get together while the community was able to look on from the outside. Many dates did not go past the front porch as that was an excellent place for socializing and building relationships. Also, those on the porch could look out into the community. This symbolizes how, at The Porch, we are aware of a watching world and we want to be able to look out into the city and meet its greatest need.
About this project
The Porch is a community of 3,000+ young adults in their 20s and 30s who come together each Tuesday evening to praise God, study His Word, and go out to impact the world around us throughout the week.
In generations past, the front porch served as both the entryway into your home and as the vantage point from which you observed and engaged with the world. It was both a part of the home and a part of the community, a place where family members and visitors could feel equally welcome.
Today, The Porch serves as a place where this generation can gather and each person can feel welcome—though not leave unchanged. Through the messages, through conversations, and through the lives of the 100-plus volunteers who make The Porch happen each Tuesday, people are being changed and are becoming agents of change throughout our city and the world. We are constantly humbled by the stories of changed lives and the way that God has chosen to work in our midst.
